We at Native Sons had our humble beginnings in the spring of 2018 as the brainchild of four Waco, TX natives. For the past six years, it’s been our privilege to provide our customers with diligently selected and expertly roasted coffee.
We got our start as a roastery, and we’ll always be a roastery first and foremost. Planting our roots in a small town like Waco has paired well with our endless curiosity and willingness to try new methods. Our curiosity has taken us beyond our city limits in pursuit of roasting excellence, and it will continue to drive us as we search the world for ever more memorable cups of coffee.

A memorable cup of Native Sons coffee begins across the globe with our growing partners. We use the language of “partner” because we sincerely couldn’t do what we do without them, and to that end, we’re especially careful about where (or, more properly, whom) we get our coffee from. We can confidently say that we’re blessed to collaborate with some of the best in the business, both in terms of the quality of their work and their character. By developing meaningful relationships with our importers, producers, and other partners, we’re able to provide a selection of highly traceable, carefully cultivated coffees all the way from the farm to your cup.
Our job as roasters, at its core, is to build upon the excellent foundation laid for us by our growing partners. We let their product shine, front and center. This principle underlies every lot we roast as we attempt to showcase their careful cultivation, subtly tailoring each roast to the qualities and flavors inherent in each individual green lot.

Our position as a roaster, then, dictates that we take care of our growing partners seriously. To that end, we ensure that our importers are developing honest, non-exploitative relationships with their farmers, guaranteeing that they’re paid fairly and able to re-invest in their livelihood. We never forget that our products are about people—not only our customers, but those who make our work possible as well.
We also believe that we have a responsibility to steward this planet we call home. At the end of the day, coffee is a crop, and is deeply dependent upon those who care for the soil. As a small-batch roaster, we’re making real strides in our sustainability efforts. In July of 2024, we became officially certified with the Waco Green Business Alliance. But we don’t intend to stop there; we’re hoping to acquire fully home-compostable retail bags by the end of this calendar year.
